UITS holds General Meeting for May 2023
At the instance of the Director, UITS, there was a General Meeting on Thursday 11th May, 2023 within the hours of 8:30am to 2:30pm at the Amonoo Neizer Conference Centre, KNUST. Present at the meeting was the Mr. Emmanuel N. O. Afful, the UITS Director, his deputies, in the persons of:
- Mr. Joachim Akute Azu (Systems and Data Management)
- Mr. Kojo Ankar -Brewoo (Software Development)
- Mr. Abraham Brew-Sam( Network Operations and Infrastructure)
- Mr. Kwabena N. Nyanteng (User Services and Support )
- Mr. Phanuel Seli Asense ( Information Security and Technology Assurance)
Also present were the various sectional heads and over 60 staff of the Directorate.
The Director commenced with a welcome address to all staff, appreciating their tireless effort of selfless service to the Directorate and the University at large. He went on to charge staff to remain committed help KNUST achieve its strategic mandate of providing higher education, undertake research, disseminate knowledge and foster relationships with the outside persons and bodies and mission of advancing g knowledge in science and technology through creating an environment for undertaking relevant research, quality teaching, entrepreneurship training and community engagement to improve the quality of life.
The meeting presented the platform for the following:
- Introduction of new staff of the Directorate
- Staff self-introduction and self-marketing
- Presentation by the Deputy Directors on divisional action plan for year, year’s activities, notable projects and other matters of concern
- Sensitisation on the need for staff abreast themselves with the various policies of the University
- Preparation for the second semester of the 2022/2023 academic year
The Director used the opportunity to introduce some new staff of the Directorate. Key among them is the accountant assigned to the UITS in the person of Mr Cassals Owusu Mends and Mr. Isaac Jnr. Dwirah, the Registrar. Their assignment to UITS, is in fulfilment of Management’s commitment to resource the UITS to function fully as a Directorate.
Mr Cassals Owusu Mends
Mr. Cassals Owusu Mends is an Assistant Accountant at the Finance Office of the University. He is a Chartered Accountant and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana who joined KNUST as a staff in 2020 and has served in various capacities at the Finance Office. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Accounting option, and a Master of Science in Accounting and Finance from KNUST.
Mr. Isaac Jnr. Dwirah
Mr. Isaac Jnr. Dwirah is a Junior Assistant Registrar at the Registrar’s Office of the University. He joined KNUST as a staff in 1999 and has served in various capacities at the Registrar’s Office. He holds a double postgraduate degree in Business Administration (CEMBA) and Public Administration (MPA) from KNUST and a Bachelor of Education Degree in Psychology from the University of Cape Coast.
In summary, the event was very successful with all staff, charged to give of their best for the upcoming semester.
