Our Projects
Establishment of Security Operating Center Period: Jan 2024 to Sep 2024
Period: Jan 2024 to Sep 2024 Division: On-going
The Security Operating Center (SOC) will serve as the central hub for monitoring, analysing, and managing security incidents across the institution. The project aims to establish a Security Operating Center for KNUST to enhance the institution’s ability to detect, prevent, and respond to cybersecurity threats. Leveraging advanced technologies and a dedicated team of security professionals, the SOC will provide continuous surveillance and protection against cyber threats, ensuring the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of critical information and systems.
Establishment of Local Disaster Recovery Site Period: Jan 2024 to Dec 2024
Period: Jan 2024 to Dec 2024 Division: On-going
A disaster recovery site will serve as a facility to recover and restore the universities technology infrastructure and operations when the primary data center becomes unavailable during emergencies or unexpected incidents. The establishment of the disaster recovery site will ensure the continuity of critical services and operations in the event of an incident or disaster.
User Satisfaction Survey Project Period: Jan 2024 to Jun 2024
Period: Jan 2024 to Jun 2024 Division: On-going
The User Satisfaction Survey project is dedicated to understanding and enhancing the experiences of the university community with various services and products offered by the UITS. The project aims to develop and conduct surveys to gather valuable feedback from users. This will provide insights into user preferences, highlight areas for improvement, and ultimately enhance the overall user experience.
Development of Physical and Logical Security Architecture Map of KNUST Period: Jan 2024 to Sep 2024
Period: Jan 2024 to Sep 2024 Division: On-going
This project aims to create a detailed security architecture map. It involves documenting physical controls such as access points, surveillance systems, and logical controls such as network defenses and data protection. The goal is to visually represent how these security elements work together, helping the university understand its security posture, identify gaps, and improve the overall security strategy.
Comprehensive Data Protection Strategy Period: Jan 2024 to Dec 2024
Period: Jan 2024 to Dec 2024 Division: On-going
The Data Protection Act Awareness Project aims to educate the university community on Ghana’s Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843). The project focuses on raising awareness of the key provisions of the Act, including individuals' rights and the university’s responsibilities in handling personal data. Through workshops, training sessions, and campaigns, the project seeks to ensure compliance with the act.
Establishment of Network Access Control Period: Jan 2024 to Jun 2024
Period: Jan 2024 to Jun 2024 Division: On-going
The project aims to implement a Network Access Control (NAC) solution to provide an additional layer of security to protect the network infrastructure of the university and to regulate network access for students, faculty, and staff. The Network Access Control system will authenticate, authorize, and monitor devices and users. This is to ensure compliance with the universities ICT Policy.
Geographical Network Layout of KNUST Project Period: Jan 2024 to Dec 2024
Period: Jan 2024 to Dec 2024 Division: On-going
The Geographical Network Layout Project aims to develop a detailed map of the university's network infrastructure. This project involves mapping out all network devices, connections, and their locations across the university. The resulting layout will serve as a valuable tool for network administrators, IT staff, and planning teams to quickly identify, resolve issues and perform regular maintenance more efficiently. It will also aid in the planning and implementation of future network expansions.
Automated Vulnerability Detection and Mitigation in Software Development Period: Jan 2024 to Dec 2024
Period: Jan 2024 to Dec 2024 Division: On-going
The Secure Coding approach project aims to enhance software security by implementing an automated system for detecting and addressing vulnerabilities throughout the software development lifecycle. It also focuses on integrating best secure coding practices to minimize or eliminate potential vulnerabilities. Combining advanced detection tools with secure coding methodologies, the project seeks to streamline vulnerability management, improve software resilience, and foster a culture of security awareness among developers.
Risk Assessment At The Data Center Project Period: Jan 2024 to Dec 2024
Period: Jan 2024 to Dec 2024 Division: On-going
The Risk Assessment project at the Data Center involves evaluating potential risks that could threaten the security and functionality of the facility. The assessment includes identifying risks, assessing their potential impact, and prioritizing the risks. The aim is to ensure the data center remains secure, operational and complies with relevant standards and regulations.
Security Awareness Project at KNUST Period: Jan 2023 to
Period: Jan 2023 to Division: On-going
The Security Awareness Project is designed to educate the university community about common cyber threats and provide practical guidance on how to recognize and respond to these threats. Through workshops, seminars, and awareness campaigns, the community will be equipped with the knowledge to create a safe and secure computing environment.
